About Me

Welcome to my personal and professional portfolio.
Have a look around and get to know me.

James T. Lee
Linux Systems Engineer

I’ve been enamored with operating systems for as long as I’ve been using computers.  A person could spend a lifetime learning to master these impossibly complex pieces of software.  Indeed, the desire to know how operating systems work and to bend them to my will propelled me through two computer science degrees and landed me in a position to work on Linux every day.

In Linux, I find a fascinating kind of chaos.  Thousands of projects, each with their own people, history, and even culture, all being brought together by any of the dozens of mainstream distributions to make a cohesive product.  I’d like to think I bring just a little more order to that chaos when I build automation on top of it or integrate it in some new way.

Adopting Linux at a young age influenced the way I approach non-tech projects and many other aspects of life.  Some might call my methodical process slow, but I strive for everything I do to stand the test of time.  “Good enough” is not good enough.

On this site I hope to share some of the work I’ve done which captures that personal philosophy.  When I’m not working on projects, you might find me on the mountain skiing or in the streets skating.  I love to travel and spend time with my partner of ten years, Sarah.  We live in Maryland with our two cats, Helo and Lily.
